Yesterday, Ben & Jerry’s opened their first branch in Thailand. They are rather late to the show with Baskin Robbins, Coldstone Creamery, Swensens and other non-ice cream brands like McDonald’s, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Tesco and Costa already here.
But their opening was a full-on effort to win over Bangkok. They had people dressed as cows (in cow onesies), people on stilts, a mime (who didn’t do any miming), a band (who presumably were famous, given the reactions of non-tourist types), free local coffee and a very pretty surrounding.
We queued for a little under an hour and happily had a free ice cream each, which was well worth it!
Unfortunately, the umbrellas weren’t for keeps, just for the rainy season.
