Picture 1 shows a modern city with elevated highway, modern buildings and an attractive central reservation planted with bushes. But compare to picture 2.
The side of the same street shows a different Bangkok:
1. No parking sign being ignored by a truck (not so serious now, but the cause of half of traffic jams a little later on in the day. In any case if the government says no parking, what’s he doing there?)
2. Crazy wiring hanging down nearly to the pavement. On other streets it literally lays on the pavement with exposed wires hanging out.
3. This pavement is relatively good, but later on it disappears leaving nothing for pedestrians because people preferred to use it in other ways.
